Temperatures plummet:
Silent frosts change landscapes and
form barbed wire cobwebs.

Stress City’s landscape:
A blur of abstract colours,
sense eclipsed by speed.

First breath of winter
caresses morning landscape
with icy silence.

Wood smoke and cockerels
mingle languidly at dawn,
low mists undisturbed.

Autumnal snowflakes
randomly pepper dry fields.
Hint of things to come?

Skeleton flowers
reach moonward in unison.
Determined decay.

Diamante cobwebs,
gaudy against morning mists:
Divas in their field.

As if to sweeten
the truth of Summer’s passing,
fruit ripens slowly.

Seagulls dip and wheel,
their cries carried towards France
beyond the sunrise.

A vacuum-packed day,
colour and movement sucked out.
An ominous start.
